Martin Luther King Speech~Poverty

Would you just stand there and watch a poor innocent child die because they don't have the necessities of life? Would you just stand there and see helpless adults try and keep their children alive through the winter without success? Just because you don't see this, doesn't mean this horrid matter isn't there! We need to get up and do something productive about this sad matter of poverty!

Look at Africa, for instance. They don't even have the luxury of having clean, fresh water. Us, U.S. citizens take this for granted every single day, and the number of emaciated children has risen a terribly sad amount in the past decade! Coming back to the United States, we don't provide a lot of opportunities to get the homeless into a better state, either. For one to get a good wage, you have to have an address. People that are homeless obviously do not have an address. Our economy isn't doing well either, that's probably another reason for a large percentage of people getting laid off. When people get laid off, a lot of people start to loose their houses' and end up on the street because there not making any kind of income. This, then, increases the number of people living in poverty.

Yes, poverty is a VERY depressing matter that has left thousands, even millions, of people on the street, worldwide, begging for food and money. Make sure you think about the hungry, and scared little children that don't even know if they'll even get enough food to keep themselves alive. You never know, your brother, your sister, or even your own children could be the next to end up in poverty!
Poor Little Kids!

"Texting while driving is one way to ensure that the police will pull you over!"

This week for our choice article, I read "The Dangers Of Distracted Driving". Overall, it was a pretty good article, not the best, but,  good. The main idea of this article was not to drink and drive, but, it was also that the authors wanted you to enter a contest for prevention of distracted driving. A girl from Michigan won and was able to get her idea turned into reality and recored when she won. What a cool opportunity! What the author wants you to get from this article is that texting and other distractions are not something you want to get yourself into, because it could end up backfiring. What could happen is you could severely injure yourself or others. "Traffic crashes are the No. 1 killer of teens in the United States, with more than 5,000 young people dying each year and tens of thousands injured." (Upfront Pg. 20) This is a very high number of people dying because of careless reasons. It's terrible to think that someone died because of doing something so stupid and not thinking about it! Check out this link!                               http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbjSWDwJILs It gives you more information on texting and driving.  The people are talking in another language, so,  read the captions! Remember that people don't crash just from texting and driving, there is also other ways. Such as, eating while behind the wheel and fixing the radio. Remember to check out the link though! Thanks for reading!
This is what could happen if you text and drive!

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

If I could live anywhere in the world, I would probably live in the Bahamas.  I would live in the Bahamas because it is really warm and tropical!  In the Bahamas, the water is aqua and its not like the oceans and beaches we have here.  Its whicked warm!  Also, in the winter the temperature is in the 80's or 90's.  Here it's in the 20's or 30's and snowing!  In the winter, I definatly rather live in the Bahamas!  Another reason why I would like to live in the Bahamas is for the snorkling!  You can see so many different types of fish and, like I mentioned, the water is crystal clear, so, it's easy to see all the fish.  Here, if you went snorkling in the ocean, you wouldn't be able to see any fish because the water is so dark.  One last reason why I would like to live in the Bahamas is because they have a slower pace of life.  People in the islands joke around and say that they are on island time.  When I went to the Bahamas for vacation, no one was in a rush.  Everyone was taking their time and no one seemed to have a worry in their mind.  Here, we are always rushing around and everyones always got something to do.  I just love the islands!
